The Stationary Epicycle
Inspired by 19th-century monowheels, its dual-satellite transmission translates a single pedal revolution into four flywheel rotations-thus a rider spinning at 100 rpms causes the flywheel to spin at 400 rpms. The flywheel engages the cycle’s 36″ diameter copper ring; six magnets installed around the ring’s enclosure work with the ring to generate a magnetic field, providing 12 levels of resistance controlled by a touchscreen display.
