When its light it may just look like a polar bear with oversized ears, but turn off the lights and switch on the battery packs and use all 3 settings to make the EL wire glow, blink slowly, and strobe. There are 2 battery packs, one on each side by your neck. Each pack takes 2 AA batteries and they are easy to access and change. Batteries included.
